Pasta with tomato sauce.

To make tomato sauce I always use onions, tin of tomatoes, ketchup, soy sauce and miso as basic ingredients. And I make alterations with other ingredients, garlic, chilli, herbs and spices.

Tomato sauce always reminds me of Malcolm Gladwell. His story of spaghetti sauce is very interesting. Basically it is about when somebody developed a variation of spaghetti sauces and is about our happiness: having our freedom to choose.

I personally never bought spaghetti sauce in my entire life so far (apart from pesto), and I wouldn't feel happy if I bought readymade spaghetti sauce.

私にとってはたまねぎ、トマト缶とケチャップ、醤油と味噌が絶対の材料で、その他の材料やニンニクやチリ、ハーブで味をいろいろ変えて作ります。

トマトソースを作る時に思い出すのがMalcolm Gladwellのスパゲティソースの話です。バリエーションのあるできあいのソースを開発した人の話があるのですが、人間の心理に関わる面白い話です。

個人的にスパゲティソースは買った事はありませんが、こちらで初めて使うようになったpestoというものがあります。これはバジルとパインナッツがすりつぶされたもの（これも、もっとバリエーションがありますが）で、かなり便利です。
