Brothers in my cupboard

I started reading a book although I should be studying for a test.

It is about the key founder of our tea culture and the philosophy of it but in the writer's personal approach. (The writer is the owner of Leek house I mentioned in this blog earlier.) I somehow felt like reading it again after 15 years.

Back then I didn't like his essay but now I'm enjoying it. It's not just because my perspective has changed but also because I'm in favour of him knowing what he's being doing. It's funny what you read is depending on your mood.

テストの勉強をしなければいけないのですが、ふと読み返したくなった本を手放せずにいます。それは以前に紹介したニラハウスの家主、赤瀬川原平氏の「千利休　無言の前衛」です。本を購入した時は若かったのと、お茶の湯のことをちゃんと知りたいという目的があったので、彼のエッセー調論考はどちらかというと鬱陶しい屁理屈に思われたのですが（がっかりした私は、その後真面目で退屈な本を買いました。）、今、読み返してみると、彼が言わんとしていることがもっとわかるような気がしています。

これは歳をとったからだけではなくて、彼の目線も好意的に思えるようになったからだと思います。聞き手の意識次第で物事の捉え方は随分と違うものですよね。
