Yesterday dinner: pumpkin soup
pumpkin, lentil, pearl barley, onion, stock, onion seeds, ground coriander, thyme, peanut butter and soy sauce. Parsley for the topping wasn't a great idea, creme fraiche and some roasted nuts/seeds would be nicer. The thick soup makes us warm. I like it in winter.
Another topic over the roast dinner with my friends was the difference between squash and pumpkin. And now I just have looked into wikipedia.
It says if the skin is orange it is pumpkin, the others are squash at least in North America. I wonder if it's the same here. Our typical pumpkin in Japan which we call Kabocha has green skin. But at the same time we don't have Japanese word for squash so anything look like squash might have to come into the category of pumpkin in Japan.
