zenzai

Today I found mochi (rice cake) in the storage and made zenzai. Zenzai is a sweet soup(?) made with Azuki beans. In London I make it using red beans from China town. Some people here is surprised to know that we make beans sweet but for me it's nostalgic taste. It's a great dish for wintery day like today.

ロンドンは今週はまた冬の気配に戻りました。桜は咲いているのに、残念です。

食料棚に豆もちがあるのを見つけて、ぜんざいを作りました。豆はChina townでred beansとして売られているものを使います。が、硬質の水のせいか、このred beansはあずきとはまた違うのか（ちょっと小さめかなと思いますが、よく似ています）、結構長いこと煮るのに豆の皮がなかなか柔らかくなりません。だから、日本の味にはほど遠いですが、たまに食べると幸せです。
