Today was my father's anniversary. So I went to Villa Savoye to console his spirit who has been my guardian angel.

He was a big fun of Le Corbusier and I inherited his book 'modulor' in Japanese 2nd edition from 1950s.

Apparently the commissioner Mr and Mrs Savoye didn't enjoy the house much because of dumpness and leakage but I myself enjoyed the house. It is very airy in the living room and especially I liked the big kitchen. I happened to get asked to open the big door between the living room and the patio but it was very heavy. We needed 3 people including a strong guy. It is very different from the Ronchamp and am impressed how much he was capable of.

今日は父の命日でした。コルビジェのファンだった父に見せたくて、サヴォイ邸を訪れました。パリから電車とバスを乗り継いで1時間程で着いてしまいます。

サヴォイ邸は当時の依頼主であったサヴォイ夫妻の別宅だったのですが、湿気と雨漏りがひどかったため、夫妻はあまり訪れなかったそうです。それから戦争が始まり、軍隊の拠点として使われた後、修復され、見学可能な状態になったのが98年のことだそうです。

使い心地は悪かったかもしれませんが、私は大きなキッチンが好きでした。

パティオと居間の境にガラスのドアがあるのですが、大きなガラスで重かったため、開けるのは3人がかりでした。ロンシャンの光の教会を4年前に訪ねたことがあるのですが、それとは全く違い、コルビジェの才能にただただ感服していました。
