My tree houses came out of a bisque firing. I cleaned the mess throughly and glazed them on the next day. It took about 2 hours to clean 10 pieces and 1 hour to glaze them. So I work on one piece for 2 hours and half in total from the beginning. Including some work such as wedging the clay, cleaning the kiln and packing and unpacking I could be spending about 3 hours.
The thing is a few might come out the firing with glaze faults. I hope not! They will be ready after being in the firing and cooling for 2 days.

今週はこれまで作ったものを素焼きをしました。それから水でぬらし、ヤスリがけして表面と中をきれいにします。一晩置いて乾かして、釉がけをして窯に詰め込みました。結局、１個を作るのに約２時間半かかることがわかりましたが、窯の掃除や詰め込みの時間もいれるともう少し長いのでしょうね。
問題は釉薬がきれいに出てくれるかどうかです。釉薬と粘土との相性が悪くて、亀裂が入ったり、釉薬がはがれたり、焼成温度が高くなってしまって、空気泡ができたりなどなど、欠陥商品になってしまう可能性はたくさんあるのです。もちろん、それを避けるためにテストや改良を繰り返して、信頼できる釉薬を作るのですが、それでも、なぜ？という事件が起こるのです。とりあえず少なくとも、今回の焼きはうまく行きますように！
