sakura mochi

This is such a treat... Sakura mochi.
Sakura mochi is a seasonal sweet in Japan. It has sweet azuki bean paste in the middle of sticky rice ball and is wrapped in sakura leaf. It has elegant flavour and saltiness from the leaf and I've been missing it a lot.
My friend came back from a long holiday in Japan and brought this sweet to me on the next day yesterday. I requested her to get some for me but she found it hard as the sakura season was almost finishing there. Apparently she bought all the left when she found some in a shop. I'm so grateful for all her effort and time to find these. 
It tastes really really lovely. When you have a chance to go to Japan for the sakura blossom season, please find these in the Japanese sweets shop and try some too!


昨日、帰国していた陽子ちゃんにお願いしていた日本からの諸々を受け取りました。飛行機の預け荷物の重量には余裕があるというので、いろいろリクエストしたのですが、受け取って改めて重いものばかりリクエストしてしまって悪かったなーと思いました。でもともあれ、陽子ちゃんと日本からの食料品の無事の入国を祝いました。
今回は生菓子をいろいろお願いしました。練りきりや求肥のものは冷凍し、念願の桜餅を早速頂きました。（何年ぶりでしょう！？！？）季節が終わりかけだったので、大変な思いをして見つけたことも加味してか、本当においしかったです。
和菓子はやはり最高です。優しくて繊細な日本の文化に生まれ育って良かったなーと思う瞬間です。
