This is a part of London I hardly go... Brixton. It's just such a notorious area for gangs and crimes, but I'd wanted to see Brixton village where you can hang out for nice food, coffees and some vintage shops.

I was surprised to find the market is quite big and very buzzy. There are so many choices of what you can have for lunch: burgers, grills, pizza, curry, Thai, Japanese, Pakistani, French, Portoguese etc ... and, of course, Carribean! It seems they serve nice food everywhere and people were queueing up some places. It's good that you can see what they serve by checking what others are having at outside table before taking your seats.

We tried Portoguese grill with Piri piri sauce... Yum! and the bill for two (without drinks) was well under £20! 

We got latte from Federation coffee after lunch. Very nice!

今日はBrixtonに行ってきた。ロンドン南部のピカデリーラインの最終駅。もともとロンドン郊外だったこの場所に、4、50年代移民が移り住んだので、アフリカ系、カリブ系の人が多い。（何気にポルトガル人も多いらしい）音楽好きならブリクストンアカデミーの名前から、地名だけ知っている人も多いかもしれない。でも、ここはロンドンでも危険な地域の一つで、ギャングがらみの犯罪が多く、コワい。

ただここに、ここ数年お洒落スポットとして話題のBrixton villageというマーケットがある。まるで屋台村みたいに、たくさんの小さなレストランが並んでいて、どこもそれなりにおいしそう。お昼時には人で溢れかえり、外にも席が出ているので、テーブルに載っている料理をチェックしていると、すっかり目移りしてしまう。ブリオッシュ生地のバンのバーガー屋さんやサワドー生地のピザ屋さんも気になったけれども、結局グリル屋さんへ。ピリピリソースは殺人的だったけれども、おいしかった。

Federation coffeeの酸味抑えめのコーヒーは、個人的にはA！

villageはアーケードになっていて、一歩外に出ると、レゲエの音と生肉の匂いがする。　"God bless you"という言葉をあちこちでかけられる（本当は、宗教のフライヤーを配られているのだけれども）。路地裏にすごく小さな美容院やらDJブース、電気のついていないセカンドハンドショップ（お客さんが入っていないとお店には見えない）などがあり、まだまだ混沌感も満載。なんだか逞しさを見て元気をもらった。
